AeroMobile welcomed by GSM trade body
AeroMobile welcomed by GSM trade body
March 08, 2006

Aspiring onboard cellphone provider AeroMobile has been accepted as a member of the GSM Association (GSMA).
GSMA is open to mobile network operators with a commitment to implementing the GSM family of digital wireless technologies (GSM, GPRS, EDGE and 3GSM), and membership represents a stamp of approval for AeroMobile.
The ARINC/Telenor joint venture plans to introduce its service this year. All AeroMobile calls will be invoiced through the caller’s home network provider, so GSMA membership – allowing the company’s network to be made available through international roaming agreements to any other GSM operator worldwide – is a step forward in the development of its infrastructure.
“Becoming a GSMA member is a major milestone for us,” says AeroMobile president Graham Lake. “Acceptance by the GSM Association shows that AeroMobile is a fully integrated and independent GSM operator.”
