UAL goes cash-free

United Airlines on 23 March will begin a brief transition period to a cashless cabin, dubbed “EasyPurchase,” on flights within the US, and to and from Canada, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central America.

UAL will continue to accept cash and credit and debit cards on flights to and from Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and South America. United Express flights will continue to accept cash.
Passengers who use their UAL Mileage Plus Visa card for onboard transactions will earn 10 miles for every dollar spent.

Passengers who apply onboard for a Mileage Plus Visa card (and are approved) will receive 30,000 Mileage Plus bonus miles and $25 off the next United ticket purchase (after their first purchase).

United joins an ever-increasing number of airlines that have gone cashless, including: American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Midwest Airlines, US Airways, and Virgin America.
